Our Approach

At Maple Leaf Preschool we believe, and research backs up, that young children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. Principles of child development and guided play are used to design an experience that fosters creativity, curiosity, and a love for exploration. We believe in nurturing each child's unique abilities and interests, allowing them to thrive in a supportive and engaging setting.

Social Skills

Fostering Positive Relationships

Relationships are at the core of the Maple Leaf experience. Every day, children are learning how to make and be a friend and a member of a community of learners. Sharing materials, taking turns, using manners, and learning to resolve conflicts peacefully are at the heart of the Maple Leaf Preschool curriculum.

Outdoor Exploration

Rain or Shine

At Maple Leaf Preschool, children will enjoy and explore the outdoors daily, rain or shine! We might be inside the fenced play area, on walks throughout the three acre property, working in the garden plot, or floating leaf boats down the seasonal stream!

About the Teacher

IMG_2116(1)_edited.jpg

Hi! I'm Amy Bazley, and I'm thrilled that you're visiting the Maple Leaf Preschool website. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, (PK-3rd grade,) from the University of Wisconsin and hold a WA state teaching license. My teacher heart belongs to preschool education, and I have previously taught in Head Start classrooms, at the Child Development Program on the WSU-Vancouver campus, and at a parent coop preschool. My most recent teaching position before opening Maple Leaf Preschool was here in Stevenson as the PE teacher at SES.

I am passionate about the power of play, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, designing an engaging environment that encourages creativity, and early literacy experiences. I strive for Maple Leaf Preschool to be an example of "best practice" in Early Childhood Education.

I'm also a mom to three incredible kids, two amazing adult step-kids, a goofy rescue dog, and a sweet bunny! When I'm not at work, I love to read, hike with my husband throughout our beautiful Gorge, dip my toes into our cold swimming holes, and cheer my kids on at all of their sporting events.
